The Public Hearing on May 24, 2016, ended abruptly when four City Councillors walked out in protest during Item #3, a controversial project at 3365 Commercial Drive and 1695-1775 East 18th Avenue, for Cressey Development. The City of Vancouver issued an information bulletin this evening, the contents of which are copied below. We also add related reading below the statement from the City.3365 Commercial context plan

It is important to note that an outside legal expert suggested it was not necessary to start again with a new Public Hearing, but the City has decided to do exactly that (which will allow Vision Vancouver to ensure that it has a majority of votes). A date is yet to be announced.

Well neighbours. I think what we should do is go back to the next Public Hearing and, as some of us tried to be, respectful in the face of an intransigent council, but this time really let it loose. Point out the Cressey hired guns who spoke the first time round, The appearance of boredom exhibited by the councillors; the NPAers looking for a way out themselves, etc. If we go that route then we have to make sure we have as much media coverage as possible for this event.

I plan to call Mayor Robinson and fellow “Visioners” whores who as we’ve discovered are only discussing their price, not what they are. Of course I will be called out of order; but why not. I’ve pointed out earlier that a man who spoke on behalf of the development worked for Cressey for five years but attempted to appear as a new convert to the development. Following him was a bearded young man who lives in the Porter complex “speaking on behalf of the renters”. What utter bullshit, and an embarrassment to any right thinking young men and women of his age who have not been “bought off” by Cressey.

    Well, what do you think?
