Dear City Clerk
RE: 3365 Commercial and 1695 to 1775 East 18th Avenue, Item #3 at the May 24, 2016 Public Hearing
We are writing on behalf of the Cedar Cottage Area Neighbours.
Many of our members attended the Public Hearing on May 24, 2016 for item #3 on the agenda, 3365 Commercial Drive and 1695, 1707, 1733, and 1775 East 18th Avenue. We have spent many hours preparing for this Public Hearing. We spent four and a half hours in Council Chambers and were left with no decision on the outcome of this application. It is very disappointing that with all the commotion at Council, it is the citizens who are forgotten and left hanging.
We are displeased by the discourteous manner in which acting Mayor Raymond Louie conducted the meeting. He antagonized several of the Councillors in Chambers to the point of prompting them to leave Chambers and thereby causing a lack of quorum.
We are very disappointed that so many Vision Councillors were granted leaves of absence or were attending other events which left the opportunity for a possible lack of available Councillors to form a quorum.
Please let us know the City Clerk’s ruling regarding the continuation of the meeting for agenda item #3 at the Public Hearing of May 24, 2016.
